About the Author

Lilian Harry grew up in Portsmouth and now lives in a village on the edge of Dartmoor with three ginger cats and a black and silver miniature schnauzer with a fan club bigger than that of her mistress. A very good read especially as I have live in Portsmouth,& could relate to all the places that was mention.I read all the books in this set they give a very good view of what life was lie at the time,the author made you feel as if you were part of the family,especially when the troops were resucued from the beaches of Dunkirk. A great read,highly recommended

Certainly an interesting read and fascinating in its descriptions of how folk really felt deep down when war was announced. My heart grieved for the poor little evacuees being terrorised by the elderly spinsters, that story was almost more traumatic than Hitler's actions. If I were to criticise, I felt it kept going over & over the same ground, but maybe's that's just how it was in those days. Interesting & thought provoking.
