Product Description

Product Description

In this sequel to "Oriel's Diary" the archangel Oriel's mission seems simple; to make sure Paul gets to Rome with the Good News of the resurrected Christ. But Oriel didn't bargain for forced flights, hair-raising escapes, a shipwreck and imprisonment...not to mention his own fears of the sea!

About the Author

Robert Harrison studied theology at Oxford, then became a church youth worker in Coventry, involved in Christian drama in church and street theatre. After ordination, he was seconded as Religious Programmes Producer of Radio Solent, moving on to become Communications Officer for the Bishop of Willesden and part of the London Diocese Communications Team. For a number of years Robert has been the Vicar of Hillingdon in West London.

5.0 out of 5 stars Witty & Touching, 29 Sep 2004
By David Cranson (Hereford, UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
A brilliant book, retelling the life of Jesus, but from an Archangel's perspective. By turns funny, then touching, then sad, we see a story whihc many have heard before given a neat twist. The bemusement of Oriel and his Angelic friends at the way their Boss (God) deals with the humans and how Jesus reacts with and to them, makes for exciting and excellant reading.

Although a work of fiction, it is well enough written to increase one's knwoledge of the biblical story behind it, and - if required - to encourage one to look into it again. The humanity of Jesus is brought out to good effect, with Oriel learning something new about the one he has known all his time in Heaven. Yet also Oriel begins to understand and learn more of these annoying creatures called humans. One question that - at least initially - repeats itself is "Why can his Boss love them so much?"

Recommended for a good read and a satisfyingly refreshing look at an old, old story.
