Product Description
Synopsis
Sheffield Wednesday: Head to Head reveals for the first time how the Owls have performed against every club they've ever played, in any competition, since the club entered the Football League. From Altrincham to York City, Wednesday's complete record of matches against each club is looked at in detail and illustrated with pictures. Also included is a table of players who've played for both clubs and a 'fact file' highlighting the most surprising nuggets to be gleaned from this fresh way of interpreting the club's statistics. Did you know that of all the 123 teams that Wednesday have ever played, Glossop are the only one against whom they have never scored? Or that the Owls' biggest-ever win in the league came in December 1930 when they beat Birmingham 9-1? Within these pages you will discover that of all the teams they have played, the Owls have faced Everton most often; that in December 1995 Wednesday scored six goals in a Premiership match for the first and so far only time; and that Hillsborough's highest-ever attendance came in 1934 in an FA Cup tie - 72,841 crammed into the ground.

All these facts and figures, along with countless others, are easily accessible in Sheffield Wednesday: Head to Head, which deserves a place on any fan's bookshelf. This new addition to Breedon's well-respected stable of football statistics books has been meticulously researched and compiled. Comprehensive enough for the die-hard statto, yet readable enough for the armchair fan, it is sure to appeal to everyone with an interest in the history of this great Yorkshire club.

1.0 out of 5 stars probably the worst book ever written about Sheffield Wednesday, 19 Jun 2007
This book is exactly the same as the books written for a host of other clubs. Breedon Books have tried to find a formular differnt to their classic range of 'A Complete Record' books. They missed the spot entirely.

This is not a bad book because of the autor. Bless him for his work, he did exactly what the publishers asked him to do and is no way responcible for how poor the book is.

Breedon should have just updated the complete records and re-published them. After-all they sell for anywhere between £40 and £100.

These books will never be as desirable, hence why I managed to win it for 1p on ebay! They are hard to follow because there is no pattern to the results. Just listing all the results against each team one by one takes them out of context with where Wednesday were at that time. The interesting facts are usually anything but interesting, to the point were they say 'Wednesday did not win so many games against such and such away from home between the years of bla de bla'

Some facts are interesting, but not many. Also, why opn earth Fred Spiksley did not get in the list for playing for both Wednesday and Gainsborough is beyond me.

Anyway. This was all Breedons fault. I own nearly all the Sheffield Wednesday books every written. This is the worst.
