3.0 out of 5 stars Nuvolari Lives on, 28 Dec 2003
By Robert Dixon "arrdixon3" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is not strictly a biography as it looks at the 'Flying Mantuan's' life through some of his best races. Missing is the story of the real man, especially his early life. For the newcomer this is a good introduction. For the more devoted, its still a good read. Still awaited is an in depth, affordable biography on the greatest driver of all time. To a great many Nuvolari still lives, that books are still published on the subject proves it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tazio deserved more than this, 16 Jun 2004
By David Smith (Madrid) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The 4 stars are for the story itself, not the way it is told. Hilton spends too much ink on trivia and petty comments whilst missing out huge chunks of Nuvolari's life. The shortness of the book would appear to reflect a lack of research which does not do justice to probably the greatest driver of all time. Hilton should have felt a greater responsibility. Still, since there is so little else written in English on Nuvolari it is well worth reading.

1.0 out of 5 stars Throw your money away--its quicker!, 6 Jul 2003
By A Customer
If you're considering purchasing this book, then just throw your money in the trash it would be quicker and have the same effect.
This is the latest, and possibly worst, effort from the biggest hack writer in motorsports.
The book is not a biography(an eccentric look at Nuvolari's most famous races instead)and I've actually learned more information about Tazio from short magazine articles than from this book!
If I could give it less than one star I would.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hitman Hilton
Hilton spends far too much of this book trying to discredit other writers who were probably around at the time. Not enough about the subject. Read more
