Product Description

Synopsis

This volume analyzes the "Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996", and how it will affect the resolution of construction disputes. The entire construction industry, from architect to sub-contractor, quantity surveyors, engineers and lawyers will become involved in this legislation. "The Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996" introduces the concept of a statutory right to adjudication. Affecting the whole construction industry, the act has lead to substantial changes to the standard form and hybrid construction contracts to incorporate the required adjudication provisions. Adjudication is a judicial process dealing with the rights, duties and obligations of the parties. The adjudicator has just 28 days to reach a decision regardless of the complexity of the matters put to him. He does not act as an arbtrator or expert in the legal sense. Adjudication is a process which this guide seeks to explain.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best their currently is on adjudication, 12 April 2006
By A Customer
A very good book on adjudication.

It sets out the history of adjucation, has a commentary on the Act (with cases for each section), then the Scheme and then various chapters on procedure, etc.

Its already old but as a grounding its excellent.

written April 2006
