3.0 out of 5 stars Really good guide, 25 May 2001
By A Customer
A good guide to the repair and maintenance of dishwashers. Lots of very good detailed photographs and diagrams. As with other electrical items, it can be infuriating when they go wrong. For some reason, repairers seem to like to charge a premium for fixing these, and generally require two call outs (so they claim) - firstly to diagnose the fault, then they'll have to come back a week later to fit the part. It's more money for the repairers!

But these machines are actually pretty straightforward, and this guide goes through all the pitfalls of using the machines, and covers how to maintain and repair these machines. In many ways, they are more straightforward than washing machines, but the high temperatures, and the amount of solid muck they deal with is different, and is usually to route of many problems.

A very good introduction to fault finding is included - excellent for fault diagnosis. If you get this bookbefore anything goes wrong, you should always be able to fix the fault within half an hour of returning from the parts-shop (for info, most parts are always kept in stock and don't need to be ordered, despite what the repairers say - it's the same bits that perish in most machines)

It would make an ideal Christmas Present for any domestic engineer!

4.0 out of 5 stars It does the business, 7 April 2005

This book will save you money. Even if you use it just the once then you have saved. It is clear and simple, although you do need a minimal of mechanical knowledge. I had no difficulty in using the book just to trace that my problem was a choked filter. Problem fixed and I am 40 GBP in credit. A really good deal!
