4.0 out of 5 stars Intending to visit America? This book is a must!, 15 Jan 2003
By Adam Moore (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
After several pre-arranged trips to the USA I decided to embark on a student exchange program which allow for some travel in the final months.

I was determined to have a great trip without having planned anything in advance. The crown of Derby's Mr Spontaneity 2002 was in sight! Although in fairness I cannot take all the credit, the book did most of the hard work. It provided me with cheap, often quality accommodation where ever I went.

As well as a useful hotel and restaurant guide the book also serves as a great tour tool and it is packed with interesting facts and places you must see! It also includes lots of information of flights, visa's, no-go areas for every traveller.

I will never go to the USA again without my trusty companion and if you intend to visit America for any reason I would suggest you pick up a copy too. Happy Travelling!

PS. If you are wondering why I didn't give it five stars, it is because the book would not properly fit into my rucksack, let me tell you, there were some 'tense' moments.

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm going to America ...., 6 May 2004
By A Customer
This is an excellent overview of the US. It is ideal for dipping in and out of when you have no specific area in mind to visit. The book has been writted for the ordinary traveller, with suggestions for several budget bands. I would, though, recommend a regional specific book for more in-depth information when you have decided where you want to visit.
