Knowing the island very well, I was pleased to see a Mini Rough Guide was written about Menorca. It has some excellent sections, such as the island history and attractions.

Unfortunately, I believe it was lacking in the restaurant and bar reviews outside Mahon. One example of this was Es Castell, where only two restaurants were listed - which were by no means the best ones in town.

The pocket sized "Rough Guide to Menorca" is written by Phil Lee a writer and traveller who most definately knows this island "inside out".

It is a comprehensive guide that explores every corner of Menorca. Essential information is provided for every new traveller to this rather impressive haven, full of fantastic beaches, beautiful sunsets and basically a wonderful way of life. This cute guide covers the jewel in the crown of the Baleraric Islands brilliantly,it is an all inclusive guide covering all aspects from how to get there to the numerous hot spots and places to visit whilst in Menorca.

Quite a useful thumbnail sketch for newcomers to Menorca, but only scratches the surface, and as a previous reviewer pointed out, only a few restaurants are properly reviewed. Also, scathing comments from what is obviously a lightning-fast trip leave regular fans aghast at the lack of detail and dismissive comments. Not a book I would recommend to a friend, but then again if i wanted to keep people away this might just be the book for them!
