This is a truly fantastic book that covers just about everything there is to know about Tenerife, from the island's turbulent history to the best places to eat whilst away from the resorts. The Rough Guide to Tenerife and La Gomera provides detailed information about the whole island, rather than just concentrating on the resorts of the South-West with a bit of stuff about the rest of Tenerife as so many other guide books do.

It's a fairly recent book, with all prices quoted in Euro's, and so is pretty up to date, and includes some excellent maps. All this squeezed into a cute pocket-sized format!

At last a guide that does justice to the island. Not only lots of useful info, but also fascinating background, history and useful maps, all in a convenient size, without too many glossy photos to shlep around. The Teide hike is a great experience, but the northern coast was worth the bus journey, too. Gave the dolphins a miss. I think the author's right about them. Ditto the concentration camp for parrots.

Great to see at last a book that shows the real Tenerife outside of ' Veronica's Strip in Playa'.
Use it to add variety to any break on the island.
Must sees that the books backs up are Teide & Gomera. Does't do some of the fantastic local restaurants justice especially in Adeje & Arona. Can't wait to explore the Northern island on my next trip! Hope the fact that a book exists about the island will be enough to make people view this as a possible holiday destination. I can count the Carribean, Eastern Europe, Cook Islands & French Polynesia amongst my previous holidays, but I still love Tenerife.A place where you'd be stuck to find a miserable face!
