3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, 1 Nov 2004
By C. Crabtree "ceci x" (uk) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a book which is only really useful in an emergency. It doesnt give you every single piece of information you need, and tends to generalise, aswell as not covering the syllabus. Considering that it is not made for a certain syllabus, thats not really surprising.
The only thing I did find useful about it was the questions. They were quite hard and so you have to think rather than mindlessly filling in the answers.
I only bought it because I was desperate, and nw I have an extra bit of clutter taking up bedroom space.

1.0 out of 5 stars This book is oversimplified, and in places just plain wrong., 29 May 2001
By A Customer
For the benefits of those who have bought this book... some errata...

In the "Use your knowledge" section on forces, question 1: the hint and answer use Wcos50 as being equal to the frictional force. It's Wsin50

Question 2's diagram gives the mass of the boat as 900k... I assume this means kg.

Question 3 of the same excercise... when you slot the numbers in, the inequality will come out the wrong way round.

After this I didn't bother to go further in the book. I am not pleased with it. I hope this is helpful to future readers, although what with the scrapping of A levels, it's probably not relevant.
