5.0 out of 5 stars Slippery Jim di Griz buckles his swash in classic style!, 31 Oct 2001
By A Customer
The Galaxy's most immodest con is back, with the reconstructed, but still deadly, Angelina at his side. Actually, at his side with a swelling belly and a .75 recoiless tickling his ribs, and a Marriage Master signalling the end of bachelorhood. A quick hold up in true di Griz style later, and a it's off on a larcenous honeymoon. Which is duly interupted by the Special Corp yanking Jim back to solve the insoluble. Interstellar Conquest is impossible, as everyone knows. Everyone except the insanely militaristic planet Cliaand, who are swallowing planet after planet. Inskipp wants to know How and Why, and Jim is sent in to get the answers - by joining the Cliaand Army!
As with so many good series', the Stainless Rat saga has lost it's burnished shine as time goes on. Not this one, though! The second of the series, this is classic Harrison writing classic di Griz. The story rips along, and all the ingredients of the first novel are there - the gadgets, the humour, the cons, and the babes! It is actually more polished than the original, and longer, too, but at just under 200 pages can be read in an absorbing sitting. The series chugs on, but after the first 5, the tarnish is there. The first five (the original series) are Sci-Fi Classics, and read as well today as they did when they were first published 30 years ago! Why are you reading this, when you should be reading them?!

4.0 out of 5 stars The guerrilla rat does it again!, 31 Jan 2002
By A Customer
Jim DI Griz, the stainless steel rat is sent to battle against the small but powerful Cliaand. In this novel Jim is joined by his wife Angelina and a band of angry amazon women.
It is fast, furious and extra-ordinarily funny with a hint of heroism thrown in.
