Not since reading Lilly my Lovely (LENA KENNEDY)
have i cried so much reading a book You feel Eileens total dispair at the end of the book yes the ending is a cliffhanger and you will need to buy the other books, i would put these books in the same league as Lillian Harrys "April Grove"
books and if you enjoy them you are sure to enjoy
these, i have to say i am now a true fan of Maureen Lee and can't wait to read more of her books.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you read this book then you will need to buy the next., 14 Jun 1999

This review is from: Lights Out Liverpool (Paperback)
I read this book twice, just to make sure I had not missed anything. I then went on a trail to buy the sequel. The book was fantastic. I cried at the sad happenings and laughed along with all the characters on a good day. This is the best book I have ever read. I actually felt that i was a part of the happenings. Fantastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars buy the follow up the same time, 11 May 1999

This review is from: Lights Out Liverpool (Paperback)
Don't buy this book unless you're prepared to buy the follow up books, Put out the Fires and Stepping Stones. They are SO good. Maureen Lee writes it as it was:- according to my mother who lived through these times and started to cry a couple of chapters into the books as she could remember how it felt. You have been warned! Tissues to the ready! Anyone who enjoys a good family saga brilliantly written will be totally immersed in these books.

5.0 out of 5 stars I t was very moving, and I cared about the characters.
I have read many WW2 novels, and this one was very good. I gained a different perspective learning about what the citizen in Bootle, Liverpoole went through during the war.
