Product Description

In the rural parishes of Louisiana young women are disappearing one by one, only to turn up on the banks of the bayou, strangled and cast aside where they are sure to be found. All attorney Laurel Chandler wanted was a place to hide from the memories of a case that had nearly destroyed her life. But coming back to the peaceful streets of her hometown doesn't give Laurel the serenity she craves. For in the sultry heat of a Louisiana summer, a ruthless predator strikes. And Laurel is lured into a game from which there may be no escape...

5.0 out of 5 stars Humid and enthralling, 27 Jun 2002
By A Customer
I started this book when I went to bed and didnt go to sleep until it was finished. The first Tami Hoag I have read, usually preferring to steer clear of femal crime authors, and it blew me away. I thought noone could better James Lee Burke in summoning up the New Orleans area, or its characters but Tami Hoag put me right slap bang in the middle of the heat, mosquitoes, and swamps. A fantastic novel dealing with a fairly simple plotline, but it draws you in and doesnt let you go. You care and condemn along with our heroine. And who wouldnt like a Jack Boudreux in their life?

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliantly crafted, another outstanding book by Hoag, 9 Sep 2001
This is now the sixth book of Hoag's that I have read and can honestly say I have enjoyed each one.

Cry Wolf is set in Acadiana, along the banks of the bayou. It is the story of the bayou strangler and the love found between the two main characters. The scenes are beautifully descriptive and the characters have good depth. From the moment I picked up this book, I had trouble putting it down. A must for Hoag fans!!

Just a word of warning, don't read A Thin Dark Line before this as it talks about the murders in this book and tells you who the killer is (as I found out the hard way - however I still enjoyed the book immensely, which shows how good a writer Tami Hoag is).

4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth while..., 11 Dec 2003

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
I was given this book as a gift, and was quite skeptical about it after reading the synopsis. After I exhausted my prior reading list, I thought I'd give 'Cry Wolf' a shot, and I have to admit that it is an excellent book.

In 'Cry Wolf', we follow Laurel Chandler, a disgraced district attorney, who comes back home to her rural parish home in Louisana to seek refuge from her career-end. On her return she makes new friends, and even falls in love with the local bad-boy. But more than that, a killer is picking off women, including Laurel's own sister, and what's more is that the killer is sending trophies of his kills to Laurel.

Whilst not as suspense-filled as some other crime writers, it is nevertheless a very good read, and by the end you'll by dying to know whodunnit!
