5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic insight into aircraft history, 5 Oct 2001
This was a present for my brother that he very nearly didn't get, I nearly kept it for myself.

For anyone interested in aircraft, this book is a breath of fresh air. The level of ingenuity (or perhaps desperation in some cases) shown in this book beggars belief and is totally captivating.

The influence of the designs over the post war period are undeniable, the most obvious example being the Mig-15, although much of the 50/60's experimental aircraft can be seen as being influenced by designs in this book. From the brilliant to the bizarre, most of these designs shun evolution for revolution, and could just as easily inspire future aircraft designers as much as those in the 1940's.

As a reference, it covers almost every item that I could find on the internet, with comparible depth. There may be gaps in information, but I can't find them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Fascinating, 5 Feb 2004
One look at this book, and you will realise how advanced German aviation technology truly was during World War II. A wide variety of different fighter types, propellor, rocket and jet powered, are covered by this book with full colour artist's impressions and their interesting history. A perfect choice for those who love to read about 'what could have been'.
