Synopsis
When inveterate traveller and international businessman Albert stumbles across a Javanese goddess, Devi, in the tearooms of the American hotel in Amsterdam, the seeds are sown for a deadly pact. Facing the consequences of his impending mortality, Albert decides to sidestep fate and commissions his own murder. Having tragically lost her son, and recently nursed her elderly mother, the beautiful Devi empathises with Albert's plight, and in the wake of his steadfast resolve becomes the "Applicant" to an execution. As the consequences of Albert's macabre plan begin to pile up, his younger friend Casey is drawn into the fray, falling for the exotic charms of the would-be assassin and finding himself caught in the middle of a deadly experiment. Posing profound philosophical questions of existence and destiny, The Applicant hurtles towards its tragic denouement with skill and insight.
