I should state first that I'm a little biased as this book was written by my grandfather. However, we've all heard of people who have to endure hours of boring stories being retold again and again by our elderly relatives. However, my grandfather NEVER put me through that as a child. Instead, he wrote this book, and gave me a copy when I became old enough to read something without the pictures! (Although this has some of those too!)
I can honestly say that this book is one of the most interesting books I've read. Very funny, and very cleverly written. Written by a man who is academically very clever, however has little or no common sense, or practical use it would seem! This is the kind of book you don't want to put down, you always want to know what happens next.
I highly recommend you read this book and hear a war story which is anything but typical.
It's out of print now, so get a copy while you still can!
