From the Author
I should like to sincerely thank Newton Abbott, Aintree and Ayr Racecourses for their help in researching the background to this book. I should also like to thank Chris Santalucia, Psychologist who intially recommended the writing of this book as a form of therapy for me after being victim to three savage armed hold ups.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth a read, 15 Jul 2002
Wow. I ordered a copy of this on the recommendation of a friend, and I wasn't disappointed. The first few chapters are a little slow, but once the story moves to England it picks up the pace (as any good thoroughbred should!). Whilst the book is set amidst the world of racing there is so much more to it. The characters are well developed and the descriptions of the English motorways and villages etc. are so vivid that I'm sure I could use this as a guidebook also. This book came as such a surprise; normally not my cup of tea, but I recommend it whole-heartedly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Family Reading, 12 Jun 2002
By jetstreamm1@excite.com Margaret Thomastown (Melbourne in the Land Down Under) - See all my reviews
Although I am not an avid race goer, I was impressed with the description of the race courses in the story. The same applies to the colourful and detailed nature of the English Countryside. I am certain that if I was to holiday there I should have no trouble in recognising the different villages. The plot was feasible and interwoven with a catchy by-play between the hero, Victor and his trainer's daughter,Mary. The characters were totally realistic and I found it hard to put the book down...

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and very descriptive narrative, 6 Jun 2002
I enjoyed not only the story line but the extremely descriptive passages of the West Country villages. The characters were easy to visualise and I particulary enjoyed the Cornish dialect, although a little hard to understand in places. The atmosphere of the race courses was captured in vibrant detail, one could almost smell the horses. The underlying romance between the hero and the trainers daughter was an added bonus. A well written and wholesome tale. Highly recommended.
