5.0 out of 5 stars A very factual and funny guide to a way of life., 22 Mar 1999
By A Customer
On the verge of another move abroad I was sent this book by my husbands new employer. Having previously moved to Asia, survived there for three years and successfully integrated back into the UK, what could this book possibly tell me? Well, Robin turned the light on. 'I am an international travelling housewife and proud of it!' She has skillfully and with great humour put her finger on the all the issues that arise when moving abroad with your husband. Oh how I wish I had been given this book five years ago when I began this career. I am now fully armed and already find I am tackling the pre move questions far better than last time. The biggest one has to be 'What are you going to do?' Robin has reminded me what is ahead and what I achieved last time without realising it. This time I will not be running out to find a job within five minutes of arriving for a need to justify being there or allow the 'nothing to do' syndrome overwhelm me. I recommend this book for first timers and veterans alike, we are not alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely spot-on - a must for all expatriate wives, 22 Oct 2000
By A Customer
I am currently on my first posting as an expatriate wife. I have now been here for almost 2 years, and only wish I had had this book before I arrived. It reassures you that all the emotions you are going through (and will continue to experience off and on during your whole time overseas) are perfectly normal - and reminds you that you are not alone in this. Something that many new expatriate wives desperately need. It is a funny, warm, well-written account of the highs and lows of life as an "accompanying spouse" and should definitely be read by every woman who has recently moved abroad with their husband for the first time, especially if you have potentially given up a successful career. And make sure your husband reads it too!

5.0 out of 5 stars The book is helpful and funny!, 3 April 2001
By A Customer
The book covers every topic and makes it all seem do-able. I read several books before moving overseas, but none of them really prepared me like this one. Best of all, it was great to laugh while reading about the ups and downs of a major life change.
