4.0 out of 5 stars a helpful and practical guide to self and people awareness, 15 May 2001
By A Customer
This is a very easy to read and understand guide to improving not only relationships with other people, but to understanding yourself. It is more of a handbook than a reading book. Its real value comes with carrying out the easy-to-follow exercises which make you really look at how your mind works and what you want; they also make you look at how other people fit into this and cause you sometimes to adjust your view to take them into account. It includes all the principles of Daniel Goleman's 'Emotional Intelligence' and many aspects of Dale Carnegie's 'How to Win Friends and Influence People', but it is without any of the background theory and examples. Its a very good introduction to what is becoming an important business skill. It is completely advice and practical exercises, ideal for those who don't want to get bogged down with the justification and explanation of the principles. My advice would be to read it, follow the advice trusting that it works and then if interested read up on the theories behind it.
