Many believe the Basque Country to be the home of Europe's oldest race and surviving language. I only had the chance to try one of the driving routes in this book, which took us up into some very beautiful scenery in the mountains.
Unfortunately the route was along a road that was not maintained, not signposted, beside some very steep drops and single track with very few passing places.
I was fairly happy with it, but I've done off-road driving courses. My wife was having kittens.
The book states that it takes you round some of the more unexplored parts of the Basque Region, but doesn't warn you about the type of roads.
This is probably a good book, and I would still recommend it, but be cautious about the drives.

This book does what it says on the tin. It tells you what you need to know. I did the walk in Urvasa with friends and family and we had agreat time. Another advantage is that you'll bump into other like-minded souls.
Make sure you have good footwear (not jesus boots) and some food.

I have been on four of the walks described in the book and also followed one of the car tours. Using this book really enhanced my walking holiday in the Basque Country, which has to be one of Europe's best kept secrets. The practical details given are first class and I think the book is an essential companion for anyone planning to visit the region who wants to get out and explore the unspoilt countryside.
