A practical guide for healing and empowering book for women, 20 Dec 2001
By A Customer
This is one of the most informative and well-presented works I have seen on the subject of Herbal Medicine. It is beautifully illustrated throughout with colourful photographs and delicate drawings, as well as useful anatomical diagrams. The book is divided into three parts, starting with an overview of herbal lore, the chemistry of herbs, preparation and essential oils. It proceeds with the role that women play in society and examines their own special needs. The second part deals with "the seasons of womanhood", i.e. puberty, fertility, pregnancy, childbirth, motherhood, menapause and the later years. This section explores attitudes around these topics and ultimately celebrates each phase of a woman's life. Part three explores practical self-help ideas using nature's bounty for First Aid, Healing, Beauty and Culinary purposes. Finally, there is a useful chart depicting ailments and indicated herbs. Altogether, an empowering book for women.
