Product Description

Product Description
This manual of Tai Chi offers an illustrated programme of graduated exercise routines and a step-by-step demonstration of a short sequence. The slow, flowing movements incorporate and harmonize some of the most important elements common to classical Tai Chi styles such as Chen, Yang, Wu, Shin and Ng. It is a programme of beneficial health care that is a powerful antidote to stress. The book is suitable for all newcomers to Tai Chi, as well as students of all styles. It presents Master Lam Kam Chuen's "Small circle form", developed for his students and readers of this book, and requiring little time and a minimum of space. It is presented in four levels of advancement, with helpful hints and general guidance that help readers understand the background aims of Tai Chi. Master Lam Kam Chuen is a consultant to Gaia Books's "The Way of Harmony", which followed the BBC series, "The Way of the Warrior", and is the author of "The Way of Energy".

4.0 out of 5 stars A beginners guide that is well presented, 21 Jun 2001
By A Customer
If you are looking for a beginners book on tai chi then this is the one to buy. A lot of work has gone in to the presentation and the author clearly knows not only the subject but how to teach it and present it in a clear manner. Not a book for experienced practioners, but for the novice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful for beginners, 4 Nov 2003
For a complete beginner like me who wasn't able to get to any classes this book is very good. It explains all the exercises first to ensure you don't injure yourself by jumping in feet first! My only criticism would be some of the more complex moves of the actual form aren't described as well as they could be, and sometimes the arrows on the diagrams are a little confusing. But a second read of the page usually enlightens you!

Definately a good starting point for someone wanting to get into Tai Chi

4.0 out of 5 stars This really is a fine book, 22 Oct 1999
By A Customer
Having known nothing before looking at this book, I was instantly impressed with what must have been a lot of hard work - this book is very user friendly with helpful pictures and consice descriptions. The author takes the time to go into some of the meaning and belief behind the system of Tai c'hi. A good one for beginners, this book provides a trouble free and quick approach to the learning and practise of Tai c'hi.
