Introduces homeopathy to all who want gentle home treatment., 14 Feb 2006
This book introduces homeopathy to everyone who wants gentle home treatment for everyday family health problems.’Homeopathy for Common Ailments’ is a practical, beautifully illustrated guide that explains and demystifies this safe and simple form of treatment. As well as offering guidance for treating children and using homeopathy for first aid, the book will help you to select and use widely available homeopathic remedies to treat frequently encountered physical and mental health problems including:- Coughs and Croup Anxiety and Anticipation Grief Indigestion Shock Chickenpox Travel Sickness Bites and Stings Hayfever The author, Robin Hayfield has been a practising homeopath since 1989. He is also a teacher of homeopathy and is co-principal of the ‘South Downs School of Homeopathy’ in Chichester, Sussex. 2006 edition - 95 high quality, easy-to-read, shiny pages split over 3 parts:- 1) The Common Ailments 2) Prescribing for Children 3) Materia Medica sandwiched between a 6 page introduction:- ‘Homeopathy - a sympathetic way of healing’ and a list of basic requirements for a ‘homeopathic remedy kit’, completed with a concise index. Our reviewers particularly liked the children section because it splits the chapter into six of the most common ‘constitutional remedies’, and if one particularly represents a child, another remedy is at hand. e.g. :- ‘for the child who always suffers with earache, or who never seems to shake off a cold properly. Learn to see the child in a different, holistic, way: if your numbustious child represents the ‘Sulphur Type’, give him/her a dose of Sulphur; if your baby is unusually needy he/she should respond to Pulsatilla.’ ‘Homeopathy is a great comfort. With this book and some basic remedies you should be able to cope effectively with many of the common ailments and first aid situations you will encounter. .......When looking at the symptom picture try to see the person behind ... often aspects of their behaviour or emotional characteristics match a ‘remedy picture’. Is there a prominent thirst, or persistent food cravings.............does he/she ask for fresh air or want the windows closed............What is the state of their breath?.... These are all helpful clues that individualise the case and can lead you to the correct remedy. Don’t worry if you initially give the wrong remedy, homeopathy is very safe and very forgiving..........’
