Product Description
Synopsis
Taking readers on a tour through the vineyards inland from Bordeaux, this book presents a history of wine development and production in each area, from Roman times to the present, thereby reconstructing the customs and way of life of south-west France. There are also sections with tips on wine-tasting, details of the different varieties grown, and advice on the food which best complements the wines. Paul and Jeanne Strang bought a house in south-west France in the 1960s, and have been researching the region's cooking and its wines ever since. The book is a companion volume to Jeanne Strang's "Goose Fat and Garlic", and was shortlisted for the Andre Simon Best Book of the Year Award.
