Having just bought a Panasonic breadmaker I wanted to get a book with a selection of rye breads, beer breads, tomato, cheese, granary - in short I wanted a selection of interesting breads to make life interesting after the sterility of shop-sold bread and the boring way bread is presented in England compared to say Germany where 300 different sorts make life interesting and nutricious.

I think Vicki Smallwood's book is great. It is not a coffee table book but has clear photographs and clear recipes. I like the simplicity of the book and the variety of the breads. I shall start to enrich my diet with bread embodying flavour and high-quality ingredients - and this book looks like the best of those I bought and certainly much better than the expensive ones I looked at and decided against.

This book is a real find - super price, super layout. I am well-pleased.

I "inherited" this book from my mother on the purchase of my Panasonic bread maker. I would advise against buying it,as I have not had good results with the 10 recipes I have tried. I think the reason is that the ingredients are measured in cups, which is very difficult to measure accurately, I would have prefered grams/ounces! Quantities for bread making machines need to be very accurate.I have had great results with other books, so I don't think it's me!!!

Very inviting recipes with good photographs of how a successful bake should look. Unfortunately, the sales information omits the fact that the recipes are for a machine with a 1100g (2.5lb) capacity and you need to be able to calculate adjustments if you have a smaller bread-maker.
