Online learning is becoming an increasingly important approach to user education, information literacy and ILS staff development. ILS staff are becoming increasingly involved in the business of e-learning and teaching, from designing and developing materials and programmes through to supporting individual and group learning using virtual learning environments. About the Author

Barbara Allan BSc MA MSc PGCE MCLIP is a Senior Lecturer in student learning and management learning at the Hull University Business School. Her previous experience includes management of academic and workplace libraries.
