Product Description
Many library and information professionals feel frustrated both by the time it takes to find answers using the Internet and by the lack of a comprehensive method for quickly evaluating websites. This book shows you how to find answers on the Net quickly and efficiently. Topics covered include: assessing the impact of the Internet on reference services; avaluating Internet-based reference resources; creating an effective ready reference strategy; tips for creating your own reference web page; when to use a search engine or a directory site and strategies for using them effectively; strategies for handling more complex reference questions; an exploration of the larger issues of Internet reference, including e-mail reference. Each section features suggestions on strategies and gives real-life examples and practical exercises to build evaluation skills. There are also appendices including a directory of reference resources and online sources of facts and figures.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and practical guide for librarians, 13 Dec 2001
By A Customer
A well-structured, highly informative book that takes the reader through easy steps to enable them to create their own reference strategies. Though most of the examples cite USA sites (surprise, surprise!) they are all relevant as reference resources and the general slant of the book is international. The author's sense of humour, the easy-to-read style and the useful figures make the book an excellent read: I thoroughly enjoyed it.
