Synopsis
Its Teddy's first day at school! Follow along as Teddy plays, learns and meets new friends at the nursery. He can't wait to tell Mum, Dad and even his cat about his busy day. An excellent introduction to school for children about to go for the first time. A wonderful way to help children get over the anxiety of their 'big day'. Beautifully illustrated in Jacqueline McQuade's distinctive style - with bright colours and friendly, fluffy bears. A delightful story told with two levels of text, large simple text for beginning readers and smaller more detailed text for more able readers.

We borrowed it from the library and read it seven times a night to our two year old, on the verge of going to nursery. She loved the colourful pictures and the cheerful characters (especially Teddy's cat). By the end she had not only learnt the simple text by heart, but was clamouring to go to nursery school and do all the things the book describes: put your bag away, make new friends, play, paint pictures and make models. My husband best remembers the heartwarming illustrations which are charming but unsentimental. For me, the highlight was the encouraging language: the book begins, 'Today is a special day...' This was our first meeting with Teddy Bear, but now we are about to move house, and guess which book we have bought for Annie?
