I've never looked at a flower aranging book before, it was to be a gift for a friend. I've browesed this book and found myself drawn in to the subject. There are sections on the various flowers to use, and dried materials, there is guidence on underlying construction, and composition. Designs were recommended by on a colour theme, which even I could follow ! There were 'quick tips' of facts, info and ideas, as well as more extensive pages outlining the basics of the art. And the photograpy is lovely. Not blurry close-ups as is the current vogue, but not staid still lifes either. Flowers on a desk at home, in the working kitchen, in a town house, and in fantastic country fireplaces, all bases were covered. The materials used were things I'd seen in the flower shop and wondered what anyone would make special out of That ! Now I know how to make sunflowers look more than 'plonked in a jar'. An excellent starter book that will also take you further into the subject. I never knoew dried lavender could look so good ! When this arrives I won't want to give it away !
