This book succeeds in conveying a potted history of this formidable tank. It covers both the design and construction of the type as well as detailing the numerous variants which stemmed from the original Tiger 1.

Equally important for both the historian and the modeller is the history of service covering various units and theatres of operation. Firepower, mobility and battlefield survivability are all covered, though not in any great depth.

Overall the book is reasonably well balanced in its presentation of the subject, but seems to be a little too short to do it justice. I feel slightly let down by the publisher though the book still warrants four stars.
