When the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was released in 1965 it was the most revolutionary Rolls-Rpyce ever made. It truly broke with tradition! After all, there was the crown as "The Best Car in the World" to protect.

The Shadow came with a monocoque body and a fully independent suspension system not to mention many other technical features that had long been adopted by the rest of the automobile industry. I have enjoyed many rides in a Silver Shadow and like the car, and its Bentley T2 sibling. But to read about them and how they performed when tested by the many magazines around the world would take forever chasing through back issues--time I don't have. And that's the beauty of this Brooklands Book--it has 208 pages packed with information.

The second article in the book---After the Cloud--The Shadow, originally published in Autocar---is for me just great as it describes in great detail and with those superb cutaway drawings exactly what goes to make up the character of the Shadow.

I can't afford to buy a Shadow, even though they are comparartively cheap these days, but in a compilation book such as this I can indulge my dream just a little

A Good Book.Consists of a collection of Articles firt published in various magazines/newspapers mainly UK,though some overseas.Articles are in date order.i.e start of book is 1965,end of book is late 90's.Therefore if you are interested in a particular model,only part of the book will be relevant,as much of the info is repeated with slight differences as the model developed.For instance Silver Shadow 2,is confined to the last 10% of the book,though the info given is detailed & substancial.All the pictures & diagrams are black & white.
