5.0 out of 5 stars one of the most readable, 4 Feb 2005
this was one of the best books i have ever read.. it introduces the very plausable idea that a person known to the police and possibly the government of the time could have been jack the ripper. it goes into detail giving the court manuscripts and coronary reports, as well as photos taken of the victims and the events surrounding their deaths. it shows the human side to both the victims and possible killer, and those involved in searching for the killer. it gives a good idea of what it was like and is an historical gem. regardless of whether or not the theory is correct, i highly recommend this book. i read it about 6 years ago and its hard to beat. its done in a fascinating yet factual manner, and the writer of the book includes a lot of research covered over many years of hard work and effort. it was hard to put down!
