Product Description

Product Description

The authors begin by telling the old romantic story that we all know - England in the 12th century. Richard the Lionheart in Palestine on a crusade, government in the hands of King John, Robin Hood outlawed in Sherwood Forest with a valiant band of followers poursued by the Sheriff of Nottingham. Then they begin their quest for the "real" Robin, a story that eventually revealed that Robin was a man who lived two centuries later and led a peasants revolt from Wakefiled.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Poor and Misleading (Read my Review), 6 Mar 2008
By Steven David Law - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is the worst of the books on the subject of Robin Hood, the authors use Suppositions as the bases for all there so called facts - very misleading - they produce no evidence to support any of the things they propose and they Obviously hoped that by using the subtitle 'the man be hind the myth' would draw in readers but they are praying on the readers Ignorance of the subject and Gullibility. Do yourself a favor Read Both ' Robin Hood by J.C. Holt' and 'Robin Hood: A Mythic Biography by Stephen Thomas Knight' first for an exellent grounding in this subject they at least know what they are talking about but that is to be expected they are the world leading experts on Robin Hood.

5.0 out of 5 stars Robin Hood the man behind the Myth, 9 May 2009
By Don of Sherwood (Nottinghamshire) - See all my reviews
I live in North Notts having left my native Scotland in 1979 and play golf @ Sherwood Forest Golf Club,in the heart of Robin Hood country and I felt it about time I tried to find out about the famous outlaw Robin Hood, instead of relying on Kevin Costner.
Having visited the Giant/ Major Oak at the Edwinstowe version of the Robin Hood centre and purchased a book there entitled Robin Hood the Real Story, I find Graham Phillip's/ Martin Keatmen version entitled " Robin Hood the man behind the myth " a much better more factual attempt at solving the true story, rather than Hollywood versions or indeed purchases from visitor centres with vested interests. Very thorough but you will need to read the book a couple of times to grasp it all. Full marks from me.
