Sorry, but I can't agree with what Fergusq says about this book. This bookhas a perfectly good regional guide that features inland regions as wellas the coast (in fact, I would hazard a guess that inland areas are givencoverage out of proportion to the number of Brits who actually move there,compared to the multitudes who head for the costas). But most of the bookis non-geographical information on the Spanish way of life, residencecards, how to find a job or start a business etc.that applies wherever youare.

This book is almost entirely aimed at those who are thinking of moving from the UK to live in one of the coastal resorts.

It completely fails to provide information for those people who would prefer to spend the rest of their days as far away from the Costas as possible.

This is a very good book for someone who wants to have an overview of what it will be like to live and work in Spain and Portugal. Once you have opted for a country then you may want something more focused and comprehensive on the country of your choice, in my case Holtom's Working and living: Portugal. But this book is excellent for a first read and more. Though covering both countries, it still manages to address many important issues, like schools and education; health; and others. Very good for a short stay, still useful for settling in. Glad I bought it.
