The jurisdiction, procedure and powers of the court are explained, allowing for a deeper understanding of how things are done and why. It also explains how the lay person is given the authority and competence to "do justice according to the law" in courts throughout the country.
About the Author
Neil McKittrick is a District Judge (Magistrates' Courts) and Recorder of the Crown Court, presently based in London. Pauline Callow, JP, LLM, is a lay magistrate in North London.
