4.0 out of 5 stars A playful exploration of bravery and triumph =^_^=, 7 Feb 2003
Although not the type of story that is easily memorised in its entirety, Fred contains memorable phrases and words which children will be able to remember and join in with on repeated readings. The book expands on our understanding of the subversive, playful and carnivalesque features to be found in literature. With a strong emphasis on bravery and new experiences, Fred paves the way for a number of delicate discussions with the children where feelings can be explored in a sensitive manner. Full of wit, anarchy and humour Fred tops the list of children's book adventures!
