1.0 out of 5 stars Just another Falklands book, 18 Oct 2002
Someone gave me a paperback version of this book some years ago, and unlike other books by authors "who were there", I found it a difficult read, and often boring. Typically, like the authors of other such books, Colbeck has turned to a former senior officer to provide a forward, with the obvious intention of giving weight and authenticity to the title. I'm surprised the book was thought worthy of a reprint.

There are many books covering the Falklands conflict, both general and at ground level. This is one to avoid at all costs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant account of the reality of the Falklands war, 15 Aug 2002
By A Customer
Graham Colbeck's book is an important contribution to the history of the Falkland's conflict. Colbeck kept a written diary and took a significant number of photographs many of which are seen in this book.
Included here are first hand accounts of the battle for Mount Longden where B company 3 Para incurred significant losses in a batle against significant odds.
Graham Colbeck has a keen eye for detail and the book conveys some of the black humour and understatement that typifies the British soldier.
An outstanding read and contribution to historical records.
