I bought this book prior to a Teaching Practice in Key Stage 1. Having read and purchased other titles from this series (including the excellent How to Teach Fiction Writing at KS2) I was really disappointed by this title. Most of the activities rely heavily on the use of unimaginative worksheets and much of the poetry is not of the high standard I expected. There is no excuse for this as there is so much high quality children's poetry available. ...

I'm glad I bought this to teach a Yr2 class at KS1. It has some photocopiables but I wouldn't rely on them since I find they make the lessons really boring. But once you understand the concepts of what to teach you can adapt the lessons around your own resources. I'm glad I got this.
