4.0 out of 5 stars Definately a good read, 11 Oct 2001
By A Customer
I have been keeping and working ferrets for coming on twenty years now on and off, and not ever having said that I know all there is to know about ferrets, but I know a fair bit, this book is still enlightening publication.
The author hasn't concentrated too much about pet ferrets as he admits he is a ferret working man first and foremost, I feel this area should have been explored further as the growing number of pet ferrets these days is steadily rising.
He is a man who like myself agrees with natural feeding, definately against the old ridulous bread and milk diet, who ever decided that this should be a diet for an animal with a set of teeth like a ferret !
His details for breeding are excellent, for those of you who have the space, time, money and patience to rear kits, the rest of us should aquire our kits from these people to keep down the number of unwanted kits that are calliously bred each year.
To sum up whether this is your first ferrets (I say ferrets as you should never keep one on its own no matter how long you can spend with it, there is nothing like company of your own kind)or you have been keeping these challenging and facinating animals for years, this book is a true delight for those winter evening reflecting on the days sport.

5.0 out of 5 stars Informed and an unbiased view to all aspects of ferret care., 3 Feb 1999
By A Customer
This book has obviously been composed by an informed and unbiased author. Being a zoologist by profession he gives the ferret handler an excellent insight into not only their working activities but also their social interaction with other ferrets and their handlers. This book covers any aspect of ferret care that you could possibly need and has been written from the point of view of a handler who has a vast amount of experience with this animal. An absolute must for any prospective or existing ferret owner.
