This book proved to be a most interesting insight into Northamptonshire's aviation wartime past. This 256 page book is full of useful photographs associated to the airfields covered. The book clearly set's out to describe, in generalised detail, the overall operational activities that took place from all airfields within the county. I was pleasantly surprised to find a chapter devoted to general wartime activities, detailing some of the Luftwaffe activities in the county during the war.

Graham supplies a very useful Bibliography, ideal for those wishing to research further in this area. My only criticism is that the book would have benefited by either maps, plans, or even aerial photographs of the airfields during the time. I feel that the story of the airfields missed out, by not including the impact of their presence on the local villages and area. However, these are minor, and I appreciate that this aspect of the counties wartime past could be covered in a future publication.

Overall, this is a must read for anyone wishing to learn about Northamptonshire's role during the Second World War, and of course anyone who's interested in wartime aviation in general.
