Product Description

Product Description

This guide should enable professionals working with disabled children and young adults to understand the relevant law and use it confidently and creatively to improve their practice. It is intended to serve as a comprehensive introduction to the overlapping legal responsibilities of social services, health and education, which should promote coordinated practice. The authors draw on research on the needs of disabled children, young adults and those close to them, to indicate how the law can be used to facilitate good practice and policy development. The book emphasises the importance of an anti-discriminatory and inclusive approach and also covers guidance from the Department of Health on the Assessment of Disabled Children and the New Carers and Disabled Children Act 2000.

5.0 out of 5 stars fascinating and insightful, 29 April 2001
I found this book to be clear and intelligently laid out. This book has provided a well needed guide for parents of disabled children in this field. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book to academics and non-professionals alike.
