Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

You're sitting in the pub with your mates, half an hour before kick-off. Your team is playing Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup.

None of you know much about the Second Division minnows--except you. "Course, their main man is Jermaine McSporran", you say. "He was signed by Wycombe last November from Ryman Division One side, Oxford City, from under the noses of several Premiership clubs. Cool in the box, he is as quick as they come and in particular, his acceleration is phenomenal."

Your friends are stunned into silence, amazed at your hitherto hidden in-depth knowledge of obscure lower league strikers. Little do they know that tucked in your bag along with your thermos, scarf and rattle, isThe 1999-2000 Official PFA Footballers Factfile.

Now in its 5th year, this is a gem. The detail is immense, covering with humour and insight 2,000 professional footballers in the English game, lovingly compiled by Barry J Hugman. One slight problem though. If you are researching information about a team, this book won't help, because unlike Rothmans Football Yearbook1999-2000 players are individually listed alphabetically, not by team. This is fine on one hand, because players are so regularly transferred. But on the other, if you want to know who plays for a certain club, and don't want to come a cropper with your mates when they ask about the rest of the Wycombe team, buy a newspaper first. --Paul Vinnell

Book Jacket

Now in its fifth year, the PFA Footballers Factfile is the most informative and comprehensive guide to professional footballers in England and Wales.

This new edition appears in colour for the first time and includes a new Where Did They Go? section detailing what has happened to all those who were in last year's Factfile but did not make a first-team appearance during the 1998-99 season.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent football resource, 8 Feb 2002
An essential reference of all players in the english league. Crammed with detail, with good judgement and fair assessment. If you need to know a stat to settle an argument this is definately the place to look.

Only let down at some points by being too soft on players we all know to be complete donkeys.

Not to be missed.

I run a football website and am forever referring to this book to ascertain one fact or another. It covers many facets of the game on players, grounds etc.The player positions. It is very straight forward and answers most questions one needs in repsonding to some other posting. I do rely on it.I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who follows football. For a book of its size it is truly a gem to have at your elbow when writing a posting or even reading. It simply packed with useable information on all the facts appertaining to the Premier League. Many books need a bit of searching to ascertain facts, this book is straight on the ball!
