4.0 out of 5 stars Insightful look at the making of a TV remake into film., 30 April 1999
By A Customer
The Making of the Avengers Movie, first starts off with a look back on the original TV series the movie is based on. This retropect is nice to have in the book. This takes up the first 4 pages of it. How the vision between the writer to producer and director evolved is next. The profiles of the actors are given. Although this part upset me. I wish there was more to these profiles. One page each ain't exactly great. You learn how the costumes were chosen and designed, cars used, where the visual effects come in, what was real and what wasn't. The pics in this book are thorough to the descriptive text. It certainly helped me understand it easily. It didn't get too muddled into technical terms or phrases. What also dissapointed me was the fact that I took less than 2 1/2 hours to read this on the day I got it. I wish the things mentioned were longer. It should've been longer than its 96 pages (80+ pages is more like the books page count). If longer this would've been more worth it. Sometimes pics took up the pages. It has some nice pics of Uma as Emma. You learn facts and original ideas that are only mentioned in this book. Although the film flopped worldwide, "The Making" book clearly helps one understand the effort, time, money and creativity put into this. The design of the movie certainly was the bright spot in this film. This book shows and tells all of this (if ever briefly). Upsetting is the fact this book was only available in the UK.
