Product Description

Product Description

A full colour guide to 40 walks in the Dolomites. The walks vary in length from around three miles to full day excursions, both in the high mountains and in valleys. The Dolomites are a prime holiday destination, with superbly located resorts connected by good roads and transport. There are vast expanses of forest, high-altitude rockscapes and seas of wild flowers. There is an extensive network of paths which link the numerous mountain huts of the region.

1.0 out of 5 stars Review of Short Walks in the Dolomites by Gillian Price, 10 Feb 2007
By W Butcher (Leicester, England) - See all my reviews
I'm not quite sure what book the other reviewer was using but I ended up giving this book away after a couple of days. It was fine for choosing which walk to tackle, but in terms of practical information on the trail it was worse than useless, with little in the way of trail description and maps that look like they were drawn by crayon. It also seemed rather badly out of date, with many of the phone numbers and even a couple of paths now obsolete. I ended up just buying a Tabacco map and copying down the phone numbers of hotels/refuges from a friend who had a different (and far superior) guide (it had a red cover but I don't know the name).

5.0 out of 5 stars I found this book invaluable., 6 Nov 2006
By Michael Castens "MDC" (LLANFAIRPWLL, Anglesey United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have used this book for two walking trips to the Dolomites and found it invaluable. It contains a wide variety of day and half day walks with well written instructions and good maps and pictures, covering all of the range. I hope to go back next year and I'll be taking this book with me.

The book doesn't contain any via ferrata or multi-day walks - not an issue for me but if you want those you'll have to look elsewhere.
