Product Description
Astronomy & Space, June 2001
Observing the Moon is a fascinating book and most definately recommended reading!

Synopsis
Written by Peter Wlasuk, an astronomer at the Florida International University, Observing the Moon is a definitive work. An invaluable reference book for anyone seriously interested in the Moon and its geology, it is also a perfect companion for practical amateur astronomers. Detailed and extensively illustrated chapters catalog most of the interesting lunar features visible in modest telescopes. They are preceded by a crash course in modern lunar geology and followed by chapters on photographic and CCD imaging, drawing and lunar topography. A CD-ROM accompanies the book and contains a gallery of lunar images.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good reference book but why no chart?, 17 Mar 2001
By A Customer
This is a good reference book for the moon enthusiast, though it is not especially easy to read. It has various chapters on the history of the moon and its geology. It also covers how to do drawings of the moon and how to take photographs.

The most useful chapters are the four covering the four quadrants of the moon - the north west, north east, south west, and south east. These give detailed descriptions of the major features to observe in each of these quadrants.

The biggest drawback with the book is that it doesn't include a chart of the moon. You have to buy one separately. If one had been included, I would have given it five stars.
