Product Description

Product Description

This second edition examines and updates the subject of CO2 laser cutting. As with the original, mathematical treatments are kept to a minimum to make it accessible. The discussion covers the cutting of metals and non-metals on a wide range of levels, from practical advice and processing parameters to explanations of the physical and chemical reactions which take place in the cut zone. Materials covered include steels, wood, ceramics, polymers and non-ferrous alloys, and the information is taken from a range of experimental and commercial results. The cutting process is dealt with in two ways: practically, for the hands-on operator; and technically, for the researcher or scientist.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Definitive Work on Laser Cutting, 15 Jul 2002
By Matt (London, UK) - See all my reviews
Clearly written, accessible and full of applied science and practical advice based on years of experience. If only all scientific books were written like this - completely free of academic pretension. Whilst written for the CO2 laser cutter in mind, it is full of useful nuggets of information that are applicable to most forms of laser materials processing. My current role predominantly involves drilling and micromachining with solid state lasers, and I still find it useful.

It is the most well thumbed book in my laser library; no self respecting laser engineer should be without it.
