Product Description

Synopsis

A guide to the world of conscious dreaming, whereby the sleeper awakens within the dream and gains control of the direction of the events of the dream. To the yogis and mystics of the East, its essential purpose is ultimately to wake up, not just within a dream, but in our waking life too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lucid Book, 4 April 2004
By A Customer
Very good book. Godwin give many interpretations on lucid dreaming from the scientific to the mistical. The book is also full of very nice illustrations from worldwide visal arts and practical exercise on how to have a lucid dream.

5.0 out of 5 stars A testament for a western dreamer, 9 Mar 2005
This was one of the first books on lucid dreaming that I read. I can warmly recommend the book for anyone interested in the topic who may not have that much prior information. The Lucid Dreamer is written in a quasi-scientific style, examining, analysing and exemplifying the phenomenon in a clear manner whereas some books seem unorganized in their structure, amateurish or too spiritual for a first time western reader. The scope into lucid dreaming and dreaming in respect to different cultures is honourably large. I would have given 4½ since some of the books with a more spiritual viewpoint offer somewhat more focused and deeper insight on the practice but as I had to choose between 4 and 5, it must be 5: Godwin's work on lucid dreaming is of incontestable value as this view to dreaming is practically completely neglected in the western world.
