Synopsis
Ken Bates is one of the most outspoken football chairmen. With access to the Chairman of Chelsea Football Club, this book aims to present a complete picture of one of the most controversial characters in British football. It presents the truth behind Ken Bates' stormy relationship with the late Matthew Harding and the real reason behind the shock sacking of Ruud Gullit. The book explores the history of the club from the days when it was over two million pounds in debt and losing 2000 pounds every week, to when Ken Bates bought it for one pound and turned it into one of the most successful clubs in the country and a multimillion pound business. Brian Woolnough was able to collect information from personal interviews with Bates himself, his friends, colleagues and family to present this picture of the Chelsea Chairman.
