5.0 out of 5 stars An essential visual retrospective guide for all SFX fans, 29 April 1999
By A Customer
Every now and again a book comes along that just makes your jaw drop. This is one of those books. The quality of photographic images and the accompanying text makes for a very satisfying read. ILM have always been the cutting edge of special effects technology and this book shows just why. The book covers ILM's transition from a 'regular' models and miniatures SFX company into the digital powerhouse they are now - with interviews with a number of key ILM staffers and of course George Lucas himself. Basically than, if you have even only a passing interest in SFX or Lucasfilm then this book will make you a true believer...buy it and find out why!

5.0 out of 5 stars A book only for ILM and digital effect fans., 4 Dec 1998
By A Customer
This book is about the creative boys and girls at George Lucas's ILM, it isn't about how YOU can create digital FX. It's more of an appretiation of the ILM team, from Young Sherlock Holmes to the Special Editions of the Star Wars trilogy. Each chapter goes into depth about how, who and the challenges of each film they worked on. Buy it if your a fan, leave it if you're after a tutorial.
