Is there really any benefit in knowing those whom Eric Sykes admires? This book includes brief sections on all the obvious choices: Laurel & Hardy, Jacques Tati, Spike Milligan, Irene Handl, Terry-Thomas (spelt wrong in the book), Hattie Jacques, Tommy Cooper and most of the people Sykes worked with over the years.

The truth is, this book will tell even a casual afficionado of comedy nothing new. It has some nice photos in it, but you'd be far better off spending time WATCHING some of these comedians than reading about them in this cut-and-paste volume.

Overall, a waste of shelf space.
